We are looking for volunteers with expertise for the following projects:

Beekeeping in Kaule, Nepal

As an expansion of the project area in Kaule beekeeping will be implemented.
Some interested farmers can be conducive to an extended biodiversity through pollination on their fields and generate an additional source of income for themselves by selling honey.

Therefore we search from March onward for specialized volunteers, who could pass over their expert knowledge about beekeeping in a workshop organized by Kaule e.V. and/ or could supervise the setup of the hives.
A stay of several months is welcome for supporting the farmers in the challenges with the bee colonies for a while.

The journey and a minor contribution towards expenses (about 3 US-$/day) are self paid as all people involved in the project are unsalaried volunteers.

In case of interest or questions please use our contact link.

What volunteers are expecting of us – what we are expacting of volunteers

Friday, March 25th, 2011

The following should be considered for the planning of a stay in Kaule:

- Expectations of the volunteers: Volunteers should take into account to their commitment that the conversion to the agroforestry system will be completed not for a few years. For this reason we ask all volunteers to adjust themselves to the fact that their work is part of the necessary preparatory work and that they won’t see all achievements immediately.

- Minimum stay period: To contribute in a reasonable way to the project as a volunteer a staying period of at least three weeks is necessary. We ask for your understanding that we can’t accept volunteers for a shorter period. This time span is essential for the volunteer to adapt to the new life and work conditions in Kaule and to receive a realistic insight into the daily life of the farmers and the arising duties at the demo center. The project leaders of Kaule e.V. are responsible for the initiation, training and supervision of the volunteers and it seems that a certain time is needed until a group is well-rehearsed and can work together harmoniously.

- Recreation and leisure time: In the evening and at the weekends there is the possibility for the project leaders and volunteers to selectively choose their recreations.

- Organization on site: Each morning a meeting takes place, where the volunteers get instructions for the work arising during the day. The project leaders have to assign the volunteers to certain activity -taking in consideration the competences and likings of each particular volunteer. As contact person there is always at least one of the project leaders on the grounds.

- Suggestions and ideas: Should be discussed locally with the project leaders. We would like all volunteers to stick to this procedure to avoid any mishaps. Generally, we are open for suggestions as long as they are in line with the overall goal of the project.
